Carol Soderlund Workshop, May 20-22, 2007

This week I attended Carol Soderlund’s workshop (http://www.carolsoderlund.com/) called “Spontaneous Expressions” at Quilters’ Studio in Newbury Park, CA. This was my fourth workshop with Carol in as many years. We batiked with soy resist, screen printed, and overdyed fabrics. My dyed fabrics never go to waste: if they turn out awful, there is always a way to rescue them by discharging, overdyeing, painting, or torturing them in various ways.

Here is my erosive screen printed fabric, dye painted with MX Procion dyes in a gold/yellow color. It will probably be tortured some more before it becomes a quilt:

This red piece was batiked using soy wax resist, then painted with Procion MX dye:
