Quilt art donated to Kaiser Hospital, April 2008

In May of this year, those of us who participated in the “Tradition with a Twist” exhibit were invited to Kaiser Hospital in Panorama City to see the results of our work. A group of us from the “Quilts on the Wall” group in Orange County made 12″ x 12″ quilts and donated them to Kaiser for their newly remodelled building. The quilts were made using ethnic fabrics and traditional block patterns “with a twist.” Here I am sitting in front of my quilt, an Oriental-flavored, beaded quilt made with fabrics that coordinated with the surroundings. The installation came out great, and we were proud to see our quilts framed and hung in the cafeteria for all to enjoy. There were many other pieces in the halls of the hospital, and we were gratified to see the variety that included textiles, mixed media, photography, weaving, and collage.ncquilt15.jpgncquilt11.jpg
